Program in Healthcare Administration and Public Health

The undergraduate Healthcare Administration and Public Health degree is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of careers in the healthcare field. In addition to courses in healthcare delivery, terminology, leadership, management and policy, students select courses in business, psychology, science, and math to prepare them for work in hospitals, clinics, research centers at academic institutions and medical centers, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, and the insurance industry. This degree would also qualify the students to pursue advanced academic studies in graduate and professional schools, including Husson University's MBA program with a concentration in Healthcare Management.

Specific objectives for our students include gaining an understanding of how healthcare affects the global economy and government policies; learning about the human body and relevant medical terminology; gaining a broad knowledge of biological and chemical sciences, acquiring microcomputing skills including spreadsheets, electronic medical forms and different modes of sharing information; becoming aware of psychological and sociological issues affecting healthcare research and practices. Our efforts encourage graduates to become critical thinking, broad minded, ethical individuals.
