The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program prepares college students for leadership positions as officers in the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. NROTC focuses on developing students' leadership, management, and ethical decision-making skills. NROTC students participate in both their chosen academic major (for example, BS Nursing or BS Criminal Justice) and naval science courses, including leadership, navigation, and naval operations. NROTC offers scholarships that cover tuition, fees, and other benefits, enabling students to pursue their chosen academic field while training for a military career. Upon graduation, NROTC participants are commissioned as officers in one of the following communities: Aviation, Submarines, Surface Warfare, Special Operations, Special Warfare, Nursing (Husson or UMaine only) or Marine Corps. Husson is considered a cross town school along with the University of Maine and Maine Maritime Academy for NROTC.
