The Pre Law certificate program provides students with advanced instruction in areas of law which will enable graduates to demonstrate higher level competencies outlined by the American Association for Paralegal Education. Many students undertaking this program are considering attending law school in the future; the courses in this program allow students to explore this area of study and provide a solid educational foundation for success in law school.  The Pre Law certificate courses can be applied to a degree in the School of Legal Studies at Husson University, enhance a degree in another discipline, or augment prior learning to provide for a change in career.

Programmatic Outcomes:

Students will develop skill in interpreting Federal and Maine rules of evidence and the application of case law to those rules.  Interpretation includes examining the truth-finding function of the rules and other goals such as trial process efficiency, fairness, effective exercise of guided judicial discretion and regulation of some out of court behavior.
